She Yue
A round-faced sword cultivator from the Wild World and one of the Ten Young Prodigies, who is the ancient incarnation of the moon.
Overview
She Yue (赊月) is a sword cultivator from the Wild World (蛮荒天下) and one of its Ten Young Prodigies (年轻十人). Unlike ordinary demon cultivators, her true foundation is intrinsically linked to the ancient moons of the Wild World; she is the "previous incarnation of the bright moon" (明月前身) and was intended by Zhou Mi to become the new Moon Co-lord (明月共主).
After entering the Haoran Heaven, she adopted the alias Yu Qianyue (余倩月) and settled in the Longzhou region of Baoping Continent. There, she developed an unlikely relationship with the Dragon Springs Sword Sect's Liu Xianyang, eventually accepting his affections and remaining in Haoran.
Appearance and Personality
She Yue typically appears as a young woman with a round face, dressed simply in a cotton-padded jacket and cloth shoes (棉衣圆脸姑娘). Her demeanor is exceptionally straightforward, often bordering on naive or lazy. She loathes convoluted schemes, overly complex people, and being teased about romantic entanglements. She has a notably large appetite and enjoys mundane comforts, such as the old duck and bamboo shoot soup prepared at Liu Xianyang's shop.
Despite her immense power, she lacks the typical ambition or bloodlust of Wild World cultivators. She finds the intricate plotting of figures like Chen Ping'an and Jiang Shangzhen to be exhausting and annoying. However, beneath her irritable exterior lies a simple and somewhat innocent nature. When Liu Xianyang makes his earnest and unabashedly clear romantic intentions known, she is eventually won over by his transparency and lack of pretension.
Cultivation and Abilities
As a top-tier cultivator of the Wild World, She Yue possesses an extraordinary innate divine ability tied to moonlight. She is capable of gathering and refining moon essence (月魄) and utilizing moonlight to replicate almost any spell, martial art, or magical artifact she observes.
- World's Martial Armory (天下武库): In the Wild World's military records, she earned this title because she can flawlessly replicate the techniques of her opponents. As long as the moonlight shines on an enemy's technique, she can grasp seven or eight parts of its true essence. She can manifest everything from golden body avatars (金身法相) and flying swords to ancient armors like the Seven-Color Sweet Dew Armor (七彩甘露甲).
- Moonlight Avatars: She can divide her true form into hundreds or thousands of moonlight clones, making her actual body incredibly difficult to pinpoint in combat.
Her nominal dojo in the Wild World was the central moon known as "Hao Cai" (皓彩) or "Jin Jing" (金镜), though another ruined site called Chan Gong (蟾宫) was also associated with her origins.
History
The Sword Qi Great Wall
Acting on instructions from Zhou Mi (whom she calls "Mr. Zhou"), She Yue approached the Sword Qi Great Wall to find the sword cultivator Liu Cai. There, she engaged in a fierce battle with Chen Ping'an, the last Hidden Official. Despite her overwhelming and versatile moonlight abilities, Chen Ping'an utilized a trap involving a complete Five Thunders Dharma Seal (五雷法印) inscribed with "Lu Chen's Edict" (陆沉敕令) and the "Caged Sparrow" (笼中雀) flying sword domain to strike her true form. She lost half of her moon essence (月魄) in the fight but survived and was extracted by the Dragon Lord (龙君).
Arrival in Haoran
She Yue later traveled to the Haoran Heaven, initially landing in the Tongye Continent. She encountered Jiang Shangzhen, who teased her relentlessly and used his flying swords to pursue her across thousands of miles. During their skirmish, Jiang Shangzhen falsely prophesied that her Great Dao lay with Chen Ping'an, deliberately misleading her to push her toward Baoping Continent.
Seeking safety, she journeyed to Baoping Continent and wandered into Huaihuang County. Wanting to avoid attention, she introduced herself as "Yu Qianyue" (余倩月) from the Middle Earth Divine Continent. There, she met Liu Xianyang, who immediately saw through her simple disguise but played along, inviting her to stay near his blacksmith shop on the Longxu River.
Life in Baoping Continent
She Yue settled into a quiet life by the river, feeding ducklings and listening to Liu Xianyang's endless boasting. Although she initially found Liu Xianyang foolish and was annoyed by his connection to Chen Ping'an, she slowly grew accustomed to his company.
When Chen Ping'an returned to the hometown, he visited the blacksmith shop and returned the half-moon essence he had taken from her during their battle at the Sword Qi Great Wall.
Later, Liu Xianyang took her on a leisurely trip along the northern coastline of Baoping Continent. During this trip, Liu Xianyang openly addressed their relationship and his intention to marry her, stating that he did not care about the gossip or the boundaries between their worlds. Touched by his sincerity and fearless devotion, She Yue finally set aside her reservations and accepted him as her Dao companion.
Relationships
- Liu Xianyang: Her suitor and eventual Dao companion. Despite her initial annoyance with his constant talking and boasting, his relentless, genuine, and transparent affection won her over. Liu Xianyang fiercely protects her and refuses to let her Wild World origins become an issue for his sect or his friends.
- Chen Ping'an: The two fought a brutal battle at the Sword Qi Great Wall. She Yue originally found him overly calculating, frightening, and "annoying." However, after he returned her moon essence in Baoping Continent, their animosity faded, and she came to tolerate him as Liu Xianyang's best friend.
- Jiang Shangzhen: They fought in Tongye Continent. Jiang Shangzhen intentionally annoyed her and gave her a fake prophecy about her Dao, manipulating her path so she would eventually meet Liu Xianyang.
- Zhou Mi: Known to her as "Mr. Zhou" (周先生). He originally intended for her to become the Moon Co-lord (明月共主) in the new heavenly court but sent her on errands that ultimately led to her remaining in the Haoran Heaven.
