Moon in the Well (井中月) is the innate flying sword art of Chen Ping'an's second natal flying sword. Initially conceived and referred to as Moon at the Bottom of the Well (井底月), it is a supreme Sword Dao ability that focuses on overwhelming numerical division and the manipulation of time.

Its fundamental mechanism is likened to a moon reflecting in a deep well: as long as ripples form in the cultivator's heart-lake, every draw and sheathing of the sword manifests a state where "the bright moon shatters and becomes round again" (明月碎又圆) in a mere instant.

Mechanisms and Scaling

The most direct manifestation of Moon in the Well's power is its ability to divide into a staggering number of microscopic flying swords. The exact quantity scales directly with Chen Ping'an's cultivation realm, acting as a clear indicator of the flying sword's grade and power:

• Golden Core (Jindan) Realm: When Chen Ping'an formed his Golden Core at the Sword Qi Great Wall, the flying sword could divide into approximately 100,000 swords.
• Jade Pure (Yupu) Realm: Upon reaching the Jade Pure realm, the number of swords leapt drastically to 400,000.
• Fourteenth Realm (Temporary): During his confrontation with the peak Ascended-tier great demon Yuanxiong at Tuoyue Mountain, while borrowing Fourteenth Realm Dao power from Lu Chen, Chen Ping'an manifested nearly 500,000 flying swords. Had he fully unleashed its potential without intentionally holding back—upgrading the manifestation to "Moon at the Well's Edge" or "Moon in the Sky"—the quantity could have reached an astonishing 800,000 swords.

Moon in the Well is fundamentally linked to the cosmological concept of "Zhou" (宙), representing the flow of time from the ancient past to the present. It operates as the perfect counterpart to Chen Ping'an's first natal flying sword, Caged Sparrow (笼中雀), which represents "Yu" (宇)—the spatial directions of heaven, earth, and the four cardinal points.

Working in tandem with Caged Sparrow's innate ability to create isolated domains (Small Heaven and Earth), Moon in the Well serves a highly lethal dual purpose:

1. Heaven and Earth Labyrinths (天地迷宫): Its countless flying swords act as the structural "veins and bones" to construct detailed illusions and labyrinths within the domain that perfectly mimic real-world locations (such as Xiandu Mountain, the Summer Resort, or the fallen Lizhu Grotto-Heaven).
2. Time Manipulation: It grants Chen Ping'an the supreme ability to control the flow of the River of Time within his sword domain.

This space-time synergy forces any trapped opponent to break through layers of temporal and spatial illusions before they can even perceive Chen Ping'an's true form, constantly draining their spiritual energy and allowing Chen Ping'an to dictate the pace of the cosmological battlefield.
