Chen Ping'an Merges with the Ruined Wall

Overview

Immediately following the ascension of Feisheng City to the Five-Colored Heaven, the Sword Qi Great Wall was physically sundered by the Tuoyue Mountain Grand Ancestor. While the surviving young sword cultivators escaped, the Last Hidden Official, Chen Ping'an, remained behind to fulfill his final agreement with the Eldest Sword Immortal, Chen Qingdu. Accepting a grueling fate, Chen Ping'an utilized a perilous method to merge his Dao (合道) with the remaining ruined half of the Sword Qi Great Wall. As Chen Qingdu's residual soul completely dissipated into the ancient bricks, Chen Ping'an transformed into a shadowy, ethereal figure with striking golden eyes, draped in a red robe and armed with the narrow blade Zhan Kan.

As the solitary warden of the ruined wall, Chen Ping'an was bound to an agonizing stalemate. He was tasked with holding the line for as long as possible—whether it be ten, a hundred, or ten thousand years. To secure his isolated territory, Chen Ping'an wiped two fingers across the ramparts, summoning the true spirits of ancient sword immortals from the Jingjian Pavilion scrolls. Although devoid of sentience, these summoned sword immortals relentlessly guarded the wall, programmed to execute any Wild World demon that dared to scale the defenses.

The merging process trapped Chen Ping'an in a highly fragile and perilous state. The physical and metaphysical stability of his half of the Sword Qi Great Wall was intrinsically tied to the world's lingering sword destiny. Across the sundered gap, on the other ruined half of the wall, the ancient Throne Great Demon Long Jun (Dragon Jun) stood guard over nearly a hundred of Tuoyue Mountain's handpicked young sword cultivators. As these Wild World prodigies practiced their swordsmanship to extract and assimilate the pure, ancient sword intents left behind by fallen human sword immortals, Chen Ping'an's half of the wall grew increasingly thin and unstable, forcing him to endure immense physical and spiritual pressure while contemplating sacrificing the half-wall itself to exchange for a Throne Great Demon's life.

Outcome / Consequences

Chen Ping'an's decision to merge with the ruined wall anchored him as the final, unyielding nail in the Sword Qi Great Wall's defense. Though the wall had technically fallen and the demon armies surged into the Haoran World, his solitary stand effectively denied the Wild World complete control over the ancient ruins. By trapping himself, he not only fulfilled his promise to Chen Qingdu but also forced high-tier combatants like Long Jun and the Tuoyue Mountain genius sword cultivators to remain behind and focus their attention on the ruins, slightly mitigating the overarching pressure on the retreating human forces.
