The Dragon Slaying Campaign
A catastrophic war executed over three thousand years ago to eradicate rebellious true dragons and fundamentally alter the world's water fortunes.
Overview
Approximately three thousand years ago, the world saw an abundance of true dragons and flood dragons establishing dragon palaces across the oceans and lands. These powerful water deities hoarded worldly treasures to satisfy their own desires, defied the rule of landscape gods, and constantly clashed with sword immortals. Their arrogant and destructive behavior, which caused immense suffering among the common people, eventually alienated the Confucian Wen Temple and led their race into a state of "Heaven's Disgust" (天厌). In response, a massive campaign was initiated to eradicate them.
The most prominent executioner in this war was Chen Qingliu, a powerful sword cultivator who made a great vow to ensure the world would have no more true dragons. Wielding two specialized natal flying swords, "Water Source" (水源) and "Fire Spirit" (火灵), Chen Qingliu ruthlessly hunted down the dragons across the worlds. His very presence exercised an absolute, invisible Dao suppression over all water-affiliated descendants and immortals.
The campaign was devastating and costly for both sides. Countless human Qi refiners perished in the brutal battles, and even saints of the Three Teachings and grandmasters of the Hundred Schools fell in combat. Despite the immense difficulty—as Chen Qingliu himself noted that the more dragons he slew, the harder the task became—the campaign successfully shattered the dragons' dominance over the world.
Outcome / Consequences
The Dragon Slaying Campaign fundamentally altered the world's water fortunes and drove the true dragons to near-total extinction, permanently crippling their race and ending their era of supremacy. The last surviving true dragon fled to the northern Bao Ping Continent, where its demise ultimately led to the creation of the Lizhu Grotto-Heaven (骊珠洞天), a pocket dimension specifically formed by the saints to suppress the dragon's remaining fortunes and trap its legacy.
