Overview

As the Wild World invasion swept across the Haoran World, the Jinjia Continent mounted a desperate but formidable defense. Gathering their remaining elite military forces alongside numerous upper five-tier cultivators and Earth Immortals, the human defenders engaged the demon armies in a massive, month-long battle. The conflict remained deadlocked, with both sides possessing a chance at victory. However, the turning point did not come from the battlefield, but from the betrayal of an indigenous Ascended-tier (飞升境) grand cultivator named Wanyan Laojing. Nearing the absolute end of his lifespan and desperate to avoid his impending heavenly tribulation, the stubborn old cultivator struck a dark deal with the Wild World mastermind Wenhai Zhou Mi, deciding that the old mountains and rivers of the continent should perish alongside him.

To survive his deadly tribulation, Wanyan Laojing allowed the Throne Great Demon Bai Ying to secretly refine his rotting body. He was transformed into a corrupted, puppet-like entity—neither human, ghost, god, nor immortal—sacrificing his peak human cultivation and accepting a life worse than death just to cling to existence. During a crucial high-level strategic meeting in the northern battlefield of Jinjia Continent, Wanyan Laojing suddenly and violently turned on his allies without warning.

Fortunately, the great sword immortal Xu Xie and an apex martial artist of the Jinjia Continent reacted immediately, intervening to block Wanyan Laojing's treacherous attack. Without their swift interception, the casualties among the gathered Earth Immortals would have easily doubled, accelerating the continent's demise.

Outcome / Consequences

Wanyan Laojing's defection completely shattered the fragile stalemate and doomed the Jinjia Continent defense. The catastrophic collapse resulting from his betrayal sealed the continent's defeat, allowing the demon armies to overrun the territory and directly threatening the neighboring Liuxia Continent. Ultimately, Wanyan Laojing's desperate bid for survival ended in misery, as he fell entirely under the control of Zhou Mi, demonstrating the terrifying efficacy of the Wild World's psychological warfare in exploiting the fear of death among Haoran's oldest cultivators.
