Mud Bottle Alley

Overview

Mud Bottle Alley (泥瓶巷) is a poor residential alley within the Lizhu Grotto-Heaven, best known as the childhood home of the protagonist Chen Ping'an. The alley sits among the humble quarters of the small town, far removed from the wealth and influence of the visiting cultivation sects.

Significance

As Chen Ping'an's birthplace and early home, Mud Bottle Alley is the starting point of his journey. The hardship he endured here — surviving as an orphan after his parents' deaths and the shattering of his Natal Porcelain — shaped much of his cautious, frugal, and resilient character.

Governing Power

The alley lies within the Lizhu Grotto-Heaven, which falls under the administration of the Great Li Dynasty.
