Sword-Nurturing Gourd

Overview

A Sword-Nurturing Gourd (养剑葫) is a treasure used by sword cultivators to store and slowly nourish flying swords. Rather than serving as a weapon in itself, it acts as a portable vessel in which a flying sword can be sheltered and gradually strengthened. The most prominent example in the series is the vermilion gourd carried at the waist of Chen Ping'an.

Function

The gourd provides an internal environment suited to housing a flying sword, allowing the sword to be stored compactly and drawn at need. For a sword cultivator, such a vessel is both a practical storage tool and a means of fostering the long-term growth of a treasured blade.
